Hazard: These carabiners have a green button that acts as a safety mechanism to prevent unlocking. The recalled carabiners can unlock unexpectedly without pressing the green button, posing a fall hazard.

Description: The recall involves the M34 BL Am’D Ball-Lock and M36 BL William Ball Lock carabiners with metal locking sleeves. Carabiners with batch number between 06076 and 06178 are included in the recall. The batch number is engraved on the spine of the carabiner. The recall does not include Ball Lock carabiners having a plastic locking sleeve.

Sold at: Petzl dealers nationwide from March 2006 through July 2006 for about $13 for the Am’D model and about $17 for the William model.

Baby Cookie Monster Toys

Hazard: The small felt fabric cookie attached to the plush toy’s hand can be removed easily and ingested by young children, posing a choking hazard.

Description: This recall involves the Baby Cookie Monster plush toy packaged with certain Sesame Beginnings Make Music Together DVDs. The blue plush toy has a small, felt fabric cookie attached to its hand. The plush toy and DVD are packaged in a yellow and green box with the words “Sesame Beginnings” and “Make Music Together” printed on the front. The product is labeled for children ages 6 months and up.

Sold: Exclusively at Wal-Mart stores nationwide from March 2006 to July 2006 for about $15.

Bicycle Light Batteries

Hazard: The battery can overheat, posing a fire or burn hazard to users.

Incidents/Injuries: No incidents or injuries have been reported.

Description: The recalled batteries are found in Light & Motion 2004 ARC Li-Ion HID lighting systems. The lights are black with “ARC” and “LIGHT & MOTION” written in yellow letters. The recall includes only batteries with a manufacturer date code of 1003 or 1103. The date code is stamped on the bottom of the battery and “LIGHT & MOTION” is printed on the side of the battery.

Sold at: Authorized bicycle dealers nationwide from November 2003 through October 2004 for about $500.

Quechua Tents and Canopies

Description: All 2006 model Quechua branded tents (2-Seconds, 2-Seconds Air, 3-Seconds Air, T2, T3 Air, T4 Air, T6.2XL Air, T2 Ultralight Tents, T0 and T0+ canopies) sold in orange, red, blue, camouflage, or beige with SKU numbers 350808, 65196, 86813 146552, 146548, 100986, 351219, 370833, 531980, 531989, 65024, 90366, 90428, 567008, 567009, 567036, 567032, 370973, 22611, 566985, and 566992 are included in this recall. The SKU number can be found on the self-carry jacket. Quechua is printed on the exterior of the tent or canopy and on some of the carrying bags.

Sold at: Decathlon USA retail stores in Massachusetts or through online sales at www.decathlontent.com from January 2006 through September 2006 for between $15 and $150.

8-Cup Coffee Brewers Due to Possible Fire Hazard

Hazard: The coffee brewer has defective electrical wiring that can result in overheating, smoking, burning and melting, posing a possible fire hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: Starbucks has received 23 reports of melting in the plastic housing of the brewers. No injuries have been reported.

Description: This recall includes the Starbucks Barista Aroma 8-Cup Coffee Brewer only. “Starbucks Barista Aroma” is embossed on the front of the brewer and the brewer has silver control panel buttons and a chrome finish. The Starbucks Barista Grande 12-Cup Coffee Brewer and Starbucks Barista Solo Coffee Brewers are not included in this recall.

Sold at: Starbucks company-owned and operated stores nationwide between March 2005 and September 2006 for about $100.

Scandinavian Child Recalls Caribooâ„¢ Baby Changing Tables

Hazard: If the zipper is misaligned, it can come apart and allow the cloth surface to separate, posing a fall hazard to the baby.

Incidents/Injuries: The firm has received one report of the zipper coming apart. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The frame of the folding changing table is made of wood with two folding legs and has a cream colored changing table cloth surface with zippers and side pockets. The product also has a bottom shelf cloth with Velcro strips. The frame of the bassinet changer is made of wood and has a cream colored changing table cloth surface with zippers that attaches to the top rails.

Sold at: Retailers nationwide and on several online merchants from September 2005 through September 2006 for about $260 and $120 respectively.

Black & Decker BV4000 Type 1 Blower/Vacs

Hazard: A loose connection between the blower/vac and an extension cord can cause overheating, posing a fire hazard.

Incidents/Injuries: Black & Decker has received 187 reports of smoking, melting and/or fire near the blower/vac’s plug, including one report of a fire extending beyond the unit. Black & Decker has received seven reports of minor burns, none of which required medical treatment.

Description and Models: This recall involves Black & Decker model BV4000 Type 1 blower/vacs. The model and type number are printed on a name plate on the right side of the unit. The blower/vacs have an orange housing and a black blower assembly.

Sold at: Home center, hardware and discount stores nationwide from April 2004 through July 2005 for about $70.

Outdoor Gas Fire Pits

Hazard: If the regulator hose for the propane cylinder contacts the burner during use, the hose can rupture, presenting a risk of a fire outside of the unit.

Incidents/Injuries: Agio has received eight reports of hoses rupturing, including three reports of fire. Two of these fires resulted in minor damage to decks. No injuries have been reported.

Description: The fire pit is an outdoor gas fire pit with a surrounding housing that serves as a table. The fire pits were sold in various shapes and sizes, including oval, hexagonal, round and octagonal. They have various style table tops, including real and faux marble, slate, ceramic or stone. The bases of the fire pits have various styles, including mountain stone, field stone, flag stone, cobblestone, stucco, brick and wicker. The model number 98500 or 98500A is printed on the top of the label on the side of the sliding drawer holding the propane tank, or, on some models, on the back of the hinged door that lifts up to get to the propane tank.

Sold at: Costco, BJ’s, Home Depot Expo Design Center, Lowe’s and other stores nationwide, and by various on-line retailers, from September 2005 through July 2006 for between $400 and $1,400.

Two-Stage Compact Snow Throwers

Hazard: If the snow thrower’s tires are over-inflated, the plastic wheel rims can burst, posing a risk of lacerations and fractures.

Incidents/Injuries: MTD has received reports of 16 injuries, including fractured fingers, a broken toe, and facial lacerations.

Description: The recalled two-stage compact snow thrower is used for snow removal. The snow thrower has two wheels and comes in red, green, gray or black. Troy-Bilt, Yard Machines or Craftsman is printed on the snow thrower’s housing. The model number is located on the snow thrower’s rear frame. Sold at: The Troy-Bilt and Yard Machines snow throwers were sold at independent dealers, home improvement and hardware stores. The Craftsman brand snow throwers were sold at Sears and Kmart stores. Affected snow throwers were sold from July 2004 through March 2006 for between $500 and $800.

Advantus Corp. Desk Lamps

Hazard: The plastic near the bulb of these lamps can overheat and melt. This poses a burn hazard to consumers who could touch the hot plastic.

Incidents/Injuries: Advantus Corp. has received two reports of lamps overheating. No injuries have been reported.

Description: These are Ledu-brand desk lamps with model number L462BK . The model number is written on the packaging. This recall involves lamps containing a serial number on the bottom of the lamp between A462050400001 and A462050401002. They also have a metallic UL foil sticker with E149992 written on it.

Sold at: Sold by commercial office products dealers nationwide during May 2006 for about $145.
